Did you know that most research on the role of DNA and health is based on European populations? This information doesn’t apply well to people from multicultural backgrounds. You can help improve this by being part of our study!
What is involved?
The University of Queensland is looking for members of the Queensland South Asian community to take part in discussions about their thoughts on genetics research and how DNA affects heart health. We will use the information to develop culturally appropriate guidelines for genetics research with South Asians living in Australia. Focus groups will be between 1.5 – 2 hours long.
Remuneration:
As a small token of our appreciation for taking part in the Focus Group, you will receive a $30 gift voucher.
Who can take part in focus group discussions?
We are looking for Queensland South Asian community members over the age of 18 years who have the following heritages: Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, or Bangladeshi.
Time and location
Focus groups will take place at various venues and times across Queensland, as well as virtual sessions via Zoom. If you cannot attend a focus group, we can arrange a time that suits you for a one-on-one interview with a member of the research team.
